Freight Quotes Canada

Post your shipment.
Compare the rate and the work it covers.

Looking for freight shipping quotes in Canada? Use Logistware to post your cargo, route and schedule for carriers to evaluate. Review incoming bids, clarify the service details and accept or counter an offer before awarding the load.

A quote request built around the actual load

Give carriers the details
they need to price the move.

Manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors and shipping teams can use Logistware to request carrier offers for commercial freight. Start with a clear posting so each carrier is evaluating the same shipment.

Describe what is moving, when it will be ready and how it must be collected and delivered. Carriers review the requirements and can submit bids. Use the conversation to resolve questions before agreeing on a rate.

For a broader overview of the tools available to your team, explore the Logistware load board for shippers.

Include the details
that can change the offer.

Measure the freight as it will be shipped, including its pallet or packaging. State the units, total weight and whether the pieces can be stacked. Identify anything fragile, temperature-sensitive or difficult to load.

Explain whether both locations have loading docks. Include tailgate requirements, residential or limited-access locations, inside delivery, driver assistance and any additional stops.

For cross-border freight, identify the lane and confirm who will arrange the required documentation and clearance. Do not assume that a transportation bid includes every cross-border charge or service.

Compare like-for-like offers

The lowest number
is not the complete quote.

Two bids can cover different work. Use these questions to establish what each offer includes before choosing a carrier. This is a comparison checklist, not a live rate display.

Questions to ask about each carrier offer
CompareConfirm before award
Price basis & currencyIs the amount for the complete shipment, or calculated per pallet, weight or another basis? Is it CAD or USD?
Included chargesDoes the offer include fuel charges and the services you requested? Ask which other charges, if any, may apply.
Pickup & deliveryCan the carrier meet the required windows? Are appointments confirmed, and does the offer depend on flexible dates?
Equipment & handlingIs the proposed equipment suitable? Are tailgate service, special loading, protection or temperature requirements included?
Waiting & extra workWhat happens if the truck waits, makes an extra stop or needs to redeliver? Agree on the applicable terms.
Offer validity & changesHow long does the offer remain valid? If the cargo, date or location changes, does the carrier need to revise the bid?
Carrier suitabilityConfirm who will handle the shipment and the operating documentation, insurance and capabilities relevant to the job.
Understand why offers differ

What can affect
a freight shipping quote?

A shipment price reflects more than distance. Giving carriers accurate information helps them evaluate the equipment, time and work involved.

Lane & truck position

Origin, destination and where a suitable truck is available can affect the offer. The carrier also considers the work involved in reaching the pickup and completing the lane.

Size, weight & equipment

Trailer space, payload, stackability and equipment requirements shape the job. A palletised dry shipment and a temperature-controlled load should not be priced as if their requirements were identical.

Timing & service scope

Urgency, fixed appointments, multiple stops and additional handling change the assignment. Identify the real deadline and any flexibility instead of leaving the carrier to assume.

Changes after quoting

Additional freight, different dimensions or a revised delivery point can change the work. Tell the carrier about changes and reconfirm the terms before the shipment moves.

Choose the right shipment description

Request offers for
your freight and equipment.

LTL & pallet freight

Provide the count, dimensions, weight and stackability of each shipping unit. Describe loading access and any extra handling. LTL means less than truckload; it is not a truck type.

Full truckload

State the required trailer, cargo and loading arrangements. Confirm whether the shipment needs exclusive use and whether collection and delivery are live loading or trailer handoffs.

Specialised shipments

For refrigerated, open-deck or other specialised freight, identify the actual handling and equipment needs. Carriers must confirm their suitability for the specific move.

After you agree on the offer

Keep the agreement
connected to the shipment.

Once you award the load, the carrier assigns a driver and confirms collection. Continue coordinating the shipment through the same Logistware Load Board.

Chat & instructions

Use live freight chat to discuss pickup details and changes. Confirm anything that affects the agreed service with the other party.

Shipment documents

Keep bills of lading, photos and proof of delivery with the load through document exchange.

Team coordination & tracking

Use team tools and active tracking to support shipment follow-through. Tracking depends on settings, device permissions and connectivity.

Freight quotes Canada FAQs

How do I request freight quotes through Logistware?

Create an account and post your shipment details. Carriers can review the freight and submit bids. Compare the offers, clarify the requirements and accept or counter a bid before awarding the load.

Does Logistware provide instant freight quotes?

No instant calculated rate is promised. Logistware is a load board where responding carriers submit offers for posted shipments. Response times and the number of bids depend on the lane, requirements and member activity.

How much does it cost to ship freight in Canada?

There is no single price that applies to every shipment. Request offers using the actual route, cargo, equipment and service requirements. Confirm the total scope and applicable charges rather than relying on a generic price per kilometre or pallet.

Are the quotes in Canadian or U.S. dollars?

Confirm the currency of each offer with the carrier, particularly for cross-border freight. Do not compare two amounts as if they use the same currency without checking.

Does a quote include fuel and additional services?

Ask what the offer includes. Confirm fuel charges, appointments, tailgate service, waiting time and any other requested work before award. Inclusion depends on the agreed terms.

Can I request LTL, truckload or cross-border offers?

Yes. Describe the shipment and equipment needed so carriers can evaluate it. For cross-border freight, confirm documentation, clearance responsibilities and the transportation scope separately.

Is the lowest bid always the best choice?

Not necessarily. Compare equipment fit, timing, included services and carrier suitability alongside price. An offer that leaves out required work is not directly comparable to one that includes it.

Does member vetting guarantee the carrier's performance?

No. Logistware reviews submitted member information during onboarding. Your business should still confirm the documentation, equipment and commercial terms relevant to its own shipment.
