What is spot freight
for shippers?
Spot freight is transportation arranged for an individual shipment, with the rate and service agreed for that move. It differs from an ongoing arrangement covering recurring freight over a longer period.
A spot load can be planned ahead or posted when a shipping need changes. It does not automatically mean emergency delivery, a dedicated vehicle or the lowest price. Those details depend on the service you request and the offer you accept.

Spot freight capacity can support an occasional shipment or a gap in your regular transportation arrangements. Start with the actual job, not a broad request for any available truck.
Overflow & extra orders
A production run, seasonal order or replenishment request creates freight beyond your planned capacity. Identify the extra pallets or trailer space, and confirm when the goods will be ready.
A pickup needs a new plan
Your expected truck is unavailable or the collection window has changed. Resolve the existing arrangement, establish the revised deadline and seek a suitable replacement without leaving two pickups active.
New lanes & one-off moves
A supplier collection, warehouse transfer or project delivery sits outside your usual lanes. Give carriers the complete origin, destination and site requirements for that particular movement.
Spot freight versus

A spot booking can sit alongside your regular carrier relationships. It is a way to arrange a specific move, not a requirement to replace your entire transportation plan.

Neither approach automatically guarantees a lower cost or available equipment. A spot shipment still involves agreed commercial terms; it does not mean shipping without an agreement.

Separate what is fixed
from what is flexible.
“As soon as possible” is not a pickup appointment. State when the freight will actually be ready, when the shipping dock closes and whether the receiver has confirmed a delivery slot.
Identify any flexibility in collection time, delivery date or equipment. If the deadline cannot move, say so before a carrier bids. A requested time is not a carrier commitment until both sides agree.

For spot truckload quotes or smaller shipments, establish exactly what the carrier is offering. A rate alone does not confirm the truck, pickup window or additional services.

Where can I post a spot freight shipment?
You can register or log in to the Logistware load board and post the shipment's origin, destination, timing, cargo and equipment needs. Review carrier offers and confirm the arrangement before award. The same account supports spot freight and other shipment postings.
Does spot freight always mean urgent or same-day shipping?
No. Spot describes a shipment-specific booking arrangement. Expedited describes a time-sensitive service requirement. A spot shipment may need expedited handling, but you must request and confirm that service rather than assume it is included.
Can I use spot freight alongside my regular carriers?
Yes. A shipment-specific booking can help with occasional freight, overflow or a lane outside your regular arrangements. Respect any existing commitments and make sure the warehouse has one clear collection plan for the shipment.
Does posting a load book a truck automatically?
No. A posting invites carrier interest. Review the offers, agree on the transportation and award the load. Confirm the actual pickup arrangements with the selected carrier; a posting, match or bid is not a guaranteed truck.
Can Logistware guarantee the lowest spot rate?
No. Carrier bids depend on the shipment and available capacity. Compare the rate together with timing, equipment and service inclusions. Logistware does not guarantee the lowest price or a particular number of offers.
What if the pickup time changes after I post?
Communicate the revised requirement and make sure the shipment details reflect the current plan. Before proceeding, confirm whether the carrier's offer, availability and agreed charges still apply. Do not assume a changed date automatically preserves the original booking.
Who transports the freight?
The selected carrier performs the transportation. Logistware provides the load board and connected freight tools. Your team remains responsible for choosing a suitable carrier and agreeing on the shipment's commercial and service requirements.
